Class Goals


The goal is to teach students the basics of creating a movie through writing, camera work, and digital editing. Our hope is to inspire students to continue making films even after the class is over by showing them that creating a great film is incredibly achievable and fun.

• How to develop a character

• How to write in Fiction and non-fiction script format

• Learn how to compose a shot

• Camera movements and framing

• Rule of Thirds and 180 Degree Rule

• Learn how to use Adobe Premiere

• How to prepare your audio

Class Structure

  • Up to 10 Students, (per session), consisting of:

    • Students ages 11-18

  • 12 Weeks of Classes, (per session), of the following:

    • 8 Weeks of Learning (Basic Theory, Development, Camera Work)

    • 4 Weeks Creating Their Final Films

Final Film Project

Towards the end of the class,, students will be taking all their knowledge and creating their very own film! These can be anything from a Short Film (1-3 mins), News Story, Music Video, Commercial, etc.

Students will pair up to write, direct, and produce a film. Although they will be writing together, they will decide who gets to direct the film and who will produce.

They will work with other students as well to help bring their creations to the big screen. Each Student gets a chance to be a Cameraman or Editor on a different project.

At the end of the Sessions, Students will get the opportunity to present their projects for everyone to see at the KKF Film Festival.
